“House Stark and House Lannister were traitors. They killed their rightful king, my father, and then the rest of my family. They placed an unworthy usurper on the Iron Throne. They almost destroyed the Seven Kingdoms with their feuding.” Cold purple eyes stared down at them as her crisp words echoed through the vast hall.
Arya forced her face as blank as a mask on the wall at the House of Black and White. Calm as still water, she reminded herself.
The queen continued. “But they saw their folly and bent the knee to me, their rightful queen. They fought against the Night King and his cold dead. And they continue to serve me and my realm.” She offered a stiff, shallow nod to them then. “I will have peace. The gods made the powerful to protect those who cannot protect themselves. House Stark and House Lannister forgot that. They cannot serve while they squabble like hungry dogs over scraps. So they will be joined in peace. Lady Arya of House Stark and Lord Jaime Lannister of Casterly Rock, will marry at the new moon. House Stark and House Lannister will feud no further, by word or deed. Or-” She gestured wordlessly at the scaled bulk of Drogon outside, visible through the ruins of the back wall.

They collide in Solaara, where they find the Imperial Bureaucratic Service poised to aid the greatest transition in government since the Fall.
And also, where they find themselves the somewhat-captive but very intrigued peanut gallery to the lives of both Cliopher Mdang and His Radiancy the Emperor.
A retelling of parts of Hands of the Emperor through the the sometimes-comprehending, often-bemused, always-intrigued eyes of Gaudy, Tully, Zaoul, and Eldo as they grow and advance in the Service.
