He's hoping for – something wild and idealistic, probably. Something that would fit the moment, Xiao Zhan's red-rimmed eyes bright with unshed tears and all those eager faces screaming their names.
"You don't want me to answer that," Xiao Zhan says. For all his coddling, he's never lied to Xia Zhiguang. He'd rather be honest to the point of brutality.
Xia Zhiguang stumbles into the idol industry when he's fifteen. It takes him a while to find his way.

The teenager narrowed his eyes at him. ‘Are you planning to rob me?’

‘What? You are a stranger!’
Xiao Zhan took a deep breath and counted to 10 in his head. He was an adult. There was no need to get agitated. He could deal with teenagers.
‘Okay,’ he said, more to himself than the boy. ‘Let’s do this again. My name is Xiao Zhan. I live next door. Nice to meet you.’---

It feels like he is breathing in oxygen for the first time in a month. Yibo’s heart, thumping against Xiao Zhan’s, feels like home.The metal of the panther pendant digs into Xiao Zhan’s chest as Yibo envelops him in a soul-crushing hug.
Over the last weeks, since Xiao Zhan’s shaky hands fastened the clasp, Yibo has not taken the necklace off, not even once.
The emotions surging under his breastbone, every time he has seen the chain worship the smoothness of Yibo's gazelle neck, have now tightened fast, secure, palpable around Xiao Zhan’s own, like he is the one being collared.
For a while now, Xiao Zhan's and Wang Yibo’s orbits have been aligning, fate whispering the other’s name in passing. Now, when their paths finally collide, sparks are sure to fly.
Or, the one where Businessman XZ finally signs Yibo for an endorsement, meaning he is no longer duty-bound to keep his hands to himself.
