Summary
I was in love with Jay Gatsby, and, six hours later, he was dead.
...
I could not let this stand.
This explores an alternate ending to the story, with two important What Ifs: what if nick and gatsby were in love, and what if there were zombies?
The rest of the story basically wrote itself. -

Summary
a tiny snippet for that post-apocalyptic au i'd like to write one day.
After the Outbreak, the infection spread. It turned people into beasts, single-minded killer machines without any shred of humanity left. Their souls were corrupted — if they weren't part of those few born with magic in their blood.
Andrew got turned and Neil was left alone.
This is the aftermath.-----
It is only a recent development, that silence feels like the most deafening sound.
Neil used to find solace in the whisper-quietness, used to feel secure in the knowledge that he’d hear it if someone approached, that he’s learned to blend in with the shadows, after all, that he’d be able to escape.
Silence isn’t safe anymore. Silence means danger, means a prickling scalp, all hairs standing on edge, because your subconsciousness knows that there’s a threat, knows that there’s something inherently wrong, but it can’t pinpoint it, can’t find the source, doesn’t know how to defend against something that shouldn’t be there at all.

Summary
Inspired by a tumblr post by libations-of-honey-and-milk:
In fairy tales and fantasy, two types of people go in towers: princesses and wizards.
Princesses are placed there against their will or with the intention of ‘keeping them safe.’
This is very different from wizards, who seek out towers to hone their sorcery in solitude.
I would like a story where a princess is placed in an abandoned tower that used to belong to a wizard, and so she spends long years learning the craft of wizardry from the scraps left behind and becomes the most powerful magic wielder the world has seen in centuries, busts out of the tower and wreaks glorious, bloody vengeance on the fools that imprisoned her.
That would be my kind of story.Series

Summary
Molly tried her best. When Harry had told them, Arthur had asked excitedly, "is this a Muggle thing?" Hermione had hurried out a "no!" and a frantic history of gender diversity in the wizarding world.
"It's just that I'm a girl," Harry had said, and Arthur had nodded and asked her about how telephone booths worked. He would call her by the right pronouns until the day he died at the respectable old age of one hundred and thirty three, and he would make it seem easy.
But Molly had to try. Hermione explained things faster and higher-pitched every time Molly messed up a pronoun. Molly frowned and muttered and put extra potatoes on Harry's plate at breakfast. Harry slept in Ron's room, which didn't bother either of them but which made Hermione scowl.
Harry got boxes of sweets and warm hugs, as Molly chewed things over. For her fifteenth Christmas, the Weasley sweater she would receive would be a bright, friendly, terrible pink.
The next time Harry visited, Molly put her on Ginny's floor to sleep-- for some definition of sleep that involved Hermione hissing threats at three in the morning if Harry and Ginny didn't "shut up about Wronski feints, do you know what time it is."

Summary
The moon asked the sun, “What do you know of love?”
“It burns,” said the sun. “It brightens. It is something you make and then give away.”
“Don’t listen to him,” said the clouds. “This big ball of gas doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”
“Yes, I do,” said the sun. “Who but me makes the roses grow?”
“We do,” said the clouds. “Love nourishes, like the rain. We turn the hills green and fill the creeks so they will sing in their creekbeds.”
“Why do you ask?” said the sun.
“I think I might be in love,” said the moon. “I am trying to understand.”

Summary
Grandmother ruled Gir Niajra, and always had.
Jummai felt certain this was so, mostly because it was impossible to imagine otherwise: anyone, anyone at all, seated so comfortably on that great golden throne except Grandmother? Anyone who could look or speak with such authority, to whom so many great and worthy people bowed down? No—only Grandmother. It had always been Grandmother, and it always would be.
Then Grandmother died; and there was a war.
(Or: Jummai is a princess without a throne—but she has no intention of leaving to others what is rightfully hers. She needs a wife with an army, and gets one; but her wife seems impervious to her tactical charm, she keeps making mistakes, and her cousin still wants her dead.)
