    “I’m telling Nancy you got us lost,” Steve teases as he pulls into the parking lot of the diner.

    “Seriously!! It’s not my fault,” Eddie groans, grabbing onto Steve’s arm and pouting. “Nance won’t ever let me hear the end of it if you tell her I got us lost!”

    Steve stares at him for a beat before shrugging him off. “Fine. Tell you what. You pay for lunch and we’ll call it even.”

    “It’s a date,” Eddie says with a grin that immediately falters when he realizes what he’s said. “I mean… a deal. It’s a deal.”

    “Sure,” Steve agrees, turning away before Eddie can see the flush on his cheeks.
