Summary
A month after being caught using X-K, Jon Kent felt off. At first, he assumed it was exhaustion brought on by guilt for putting his parents through everything he'd done. Nearly getting expelled, getting kicked off the football team, having to take classes remotely, getting the police involved - he'd upended their already chaotic family dynamic.
Soon, Jon would discover the truth. X-K has given him an aggressive lung cancer that is threatening to take his life. At first, he wonders if it's even worth the fight. Who would miss him if he were gone? He wasn't anything special. He didn't have powers. He wasn't smart. He wasn't strong. He'd embarrassed his parents and misrepresented the family. The school and town hated him for ruining the football season.
After all, this was his fault. This was his punishment. He had to be responsible for his actions and he only had himself to blame.
Though as Jon goes through he own personal battle against cancer, one he has to face without powers or kryptonian technology, he'll search for a spark he'd lost ever since moving to Smallville. A spark that will try to be ignited by his family that is slowly falling apart at the seams.

“Oh, sweetheart,” Henry breathes, sitting beside him in the lounge chair, quickly grasping Alex’s hand in his own.
Immediately, Alex knows what Henry is going to say. “No, I know,” he says quickly.
Henry shakes his head at him. “No, I don't think you do,” he says in a hoarse voice. Alex looks closely at his husband and observes the dark circles under his eyes. It doesn’t look like he slept at all, and a pit forms in his stomach at the thought.
“And even if you do,” Henry continues. “I need to say it. We are going to fight this,” he says firmly. “And we are going to go wherever we have to go, see whoever we have to see, and we are going to win. Because I'm not going to let anything happen to you.”
Five years after moving to Austin, Henry and Alex are new parents to a beautiful baby boy, the light of their life. Alex is a stay-at-home Dad, while Henry is President of the Okonjo Foundation, breaking barriers to open a new shelter in Austin.
