Luke found that being a little materialistic took off his burden a little bit. Those times he was washing his clothes in the river or maintaining the functionality of his ship he didn’t feel the constant pressure of being the last Jedi, the one who was supposed to keep the balance of the Force. He just felt like a regular person who paid a little bit too much attention to how his boots made his legs look.
So yeah, even though he wasn’t a fan of politicians or parties (and definitely not political parties), he loved going to Leia’s huge parties where he could dress up however dramatic he wanted, drink as much as he possibly could, and indulge in normal things that every day people did. This translated into his personality by making him easily distracted and very dramatic, which were absolutely not Jedi traits, but hey, the Jedi Order was gone. All they could do was disapprovingly glare at him as Force-ghosts (which they definitely did).
This made getting along with the Mandalorian very interesting.
