Mounir wandte den Blick ab und musterte stattdessen ihre verschränkten Finger. Das war wohl, was sie nun taten. Sich an den Händen halten. Und es schien Manuel egal zu sein, dass jeder sie dabei sehen konnte. Sein Gleichmut schmerzte Mounir, verdeutlichte ihm dieser doch allzu sehr, dass Manuel der Geste nicht annähernd dieselbe Bedeutung beimaß, wie er, der sich nach der Nähe des anderen sehnte, wie ein Ertrinkender nach Sauerstoff. Einzig Manuels Berührungen hielten ihn noch bei Verstand, während sie ihn gleichzeitig um eben diesen brachten.

Newt blinked. “I’m sorry, what?”
“Your name,” Tommy repeated. “You still call your sister by hers. I’d like to know what she used to call you.”
Newt opened his mouth to answer but hesitated. For so long, he had fought against WICKED’s attempts to strip his identity away. He had clung to his name as the last piece of himself that they couldn’t take. But after so many years, Newt had become his identity, not just a name, but who he was. None of the others had ever asked. WICKED discouraged that. But now, here was Tommy, standing in front of him, asking him just like that.
As Newt struggled to find the words, Tommy kept his eyes steady on him, patient and waiting. “Mine’s Stephen,” he said, and his voice held a kind of quiet sadness that mirrored Newt’s own grief. “That’s what my mother called me.”
“You’re not supposed to tell me,” Newt murmured, the words barely audible. He wasn’t even sure if he had spoken them aloud or just thought them.
“I know,” Tommy replied softly. “But I want you to know. I’d like you to keep it for me, maybe? The way you keep Lizzy’s name with you.”or: Tommy and Newt in a closet? (If you've read the fever code, you know what I'm talking about)

Thomas has always liked looking at Newt; he's got this effortless attractiveness to him, he looks good without trying too hard, and maybe Thomas would envy him for it if it wasn't for this strange pull in his chest he always feels in the other’s presence. Everything about Newt is familiar and yet Thomas never tires of looking at him. He knows exactly what it is that he's feeling, has known it for a while now, and he also knows that these are not exactly feelings appropriate to have about your best friend. You'd think they’d eventually wear off since Thomas never allows himself to delve deeper into them, but Newt's effect on him is impossible to evade. He can't undo what he found in Newt and yet he could never pursue it, because he’s too scared of jeopardising a friendship that means so much more to him than he's ready to admit.

Eigentlich findet Adam so etwas albern. Von Luftmatratzen hält er sowieso nichts, entweder er will im Wasser sein oder am Ufer auf seinem Handtuch liegen. Aber vielleicht lächelt Leo ihn wieder mal so süß an, wenn Adam morgen diese Anspielung auf Leos Pflanzen mitbringt. Seine Kaufentscheidung nur auf so etwas zu basieren, ist wahrscheinlich ziemlich dumm, aber da in letzter Zeit alle von Adams großen Entscheidungen auf Leo zurückzuführen sind, ist dieser Spontankauf wahrscheinlich noch das geringste Übel.
Das Team verbringt einen Tag am Badesee. Adam bringt für Leo eine ganz besondere Luftmatratze mit.

"So why are ya sitting there, scarin' my poor pony out of its stall?"
Thomas looked back and forth between the boy and the horse. It shook its head to dispel the flies that settled on its nostrils, then lowered its head to nibble on the straw on the ground. It didn't look scared, but Thomas couldn't be sure, after all he didn't know anything about horsesor: Thomas hides in Gally's horse stall and Newt finds him.
