Summary
In my time as a commander in the Vrihedd Brigade and as a Scoia’tael commander, I have survived great feats — the execution of the Vrihedd officers, the marring of my face, the battle in Upper Aedirn, and the most recent, — going toe to toe with the Wild Hunt. So to say that I'm sick was just well, a d'yaebl aép arse! I don't get sick, ever. This. Must. Be. A. Grave. Mistake. A mistake! And why does Hylde look at me that way? She's angry of course (for when is she not with him) but, is that worry?
I am most definitely not worried about a certain Scoia’tael commander. And why should I anyway - they’re the bane of existence, they do more harm than good plus they endanger both human and elven lives. So why should I worry? But seeing Iorveth loosen himself, inhibitions be damned, drinking the night away — the fear of getting recognized by dh’oine stripped away paints him in a new light. Something warmer, of a life that could have been. Whatever this is, this feeling? Ha! I'm not fond of him, not at all. No. It's something else, something closer to concern. But I'm not gonna tell him that. This scowl is all he's ever going to get.

Fuck. He couldn't stand this anymore. Fuck! He wasn't a coward. He'll fuckin' send it. What's stopping him? It's not like he'll see him again, so what's a love confession gonna do? Absolutely nothing.
He was going to fucking send it.

"Ok, I can barely make out this shitty handwriting, but, this is definitely for you. It's a letter." Zain waved the envelope over his head as he continued, "You are going to be so thrilled."
Salim stared at it. The sun was shining through the thin masking paper, and he could just barely make out what looked like a folded piece of notebook paper tucked inside. "It's a letter? Who . . . who is it from?" He swallowed, his heart beginning to beat a little harder. "Zain, you can't mess with me about this. Who sent it?"
Salim could feel that hopeful tingle in his gut, and his lungs felt weak.
Zain was grinning broadly, and Salim could clearly see the excitement in his face as he shoved the letter into his father's eagerly trembling hands.
"It's from Jason."

Summary
“Vernon.” He wants to say the word out loud, but he isn’t sure whether his parched throat can articulate it; all that comes out is a croak. Of course, Roche would be here, too. Is he amongst the dead or the living, still? It doesn’t really matter. It’s only fitting that he is here now, at the end.
“Bloody elf.” Roche’s shape wavers, reaching out towards Iorveth. Strange. The ghosts haven’t really spoken to him before and Roche’s voice sounds astonishingly real. “Couldn’t you have died somewhere else instead of trying to do so on my bloody doorstep?”
*Roche finds a half-dead Iorveth in the forest and nurses him back to health, rekindling something between them in the process.
