Summary
“Mind flayers,” Astarion hisses, slamming a hand down onto the desk and pushing himself sideways in order to glare at me. “Are supposed to be sadistic in a grand, subtly elegant, mastermind sort of a way. They are not supposed to be unceasingly irritating in the manner of a five year old child!”

Summary
Perhaps if he were a better man, he would have stayed. He would have died on familiar docks, surrounded by his friends, standing tall over one of the greatest victories the Sword Coast had ever seen. Summary
When Astarion comes to in the glaring brightness of the midday sun, he thinks he's died for the second time. Or perhaps it's an illusion. A hallucination.
But no, it's none of that. The world has simply gone mad. The old rules are gone, new ones have been slapped on instead, and no one has bothered to explain anything to him.
Before Astarion has time to process any of this, he's thrown into adventure with a bunch of strangers – emphasis on strange. But it's all right. He'll survive. He always does, whatever it takes.
