Summary
Tommy’s left butt cheek was starting to go numb and he lost feeling in his left arm a while ago, but he would rather cut it off than move. Buck had finally fallen asleep about one-third into the movie Tommy had put on, with his right side carefully tucked under Tommy’s arm, sling precariously positioned, head pillowed on Tommy’s chest, snoring softly and without a doubt drooling all over Tommy’s sweater.
But he would still take this a thousand times over the agony earlier on Buck's face, the silent tears, as he threw up for the third time that day.
Tommy had not expected another call from Eddie, telling him that Buck dislocated his shoulder again so soon. But with Buck’s track record, maybe he should have.

Summary
What slowly wakes him up in the first place is a stubborn beam of sunlight consistently shining on his face.
Tommy tries to bury his head further into his pillow, but it doesn’t help.
It doesn’t make sense, because the only window in his bedroom faces the north and never has sunlight streaming in, in the morning.

Summary
He doesn’t know what he expected to see when he arrived, but the loft is silent and empty. Eddie frowns. There are dishes on the kitchen counter, the table is scattered with papers and mail.
He steps inside and closes the door behind him.
“Buck,” he calls out, “are you home?”
And that’s when he nearly trips. Looking down he notices Buck’s white sneakers, haphazardly scattered near the front door. A few feet further is Buck’s duffle, dropped on the floor and half thrown open.
Eddie whips his head to the key bowl in the entryway and Buck’s keys stand out with the LA zoo keychain he got from Chris years ago.
He's at home. He must be.
OR
Eddie catastrophizes and Buck needs to learn how to communicate.

Summary
Eddie had thought Buck would be overjoyed, crying maybe even, because Buck is nothing but an emotional wreck on good days. He had looked happy when Chris presented him with the envelope and had nearly crushed him in a hug. Now, he looked like he was two seconds away from execution.
“What is wrong?” Eddie asks, “I thought you were going to be happy.” He tries to look at Buck, but he’s avoiding his gaze.
It stays silent for a moment.
“I just don’t want to replace anyone, I don’t want you to think I’m replacing anyone,” Buck mumbles and he looks almost ashamed.
OR
Christopher has an important question, Eddie hates the Buckley Parents, and Buck just needs a hug.
