Lupe’s a little thrown by Jess’s offer, but also has to admit that it makes a weird sort of sense. She finds herself surprised to realize that she’s not outright opposed to the idea, as strange as it is. It’s probably because—well, it’s Jess, and Lupe trusts Jess more than almost anyone else she’s known before.
Lupe’s having a bad day; Jess helps her out. It’s just a one-time thing.
But then they win. And, well, they can't break the streak.

Every inch of Jess’s body that was touching Lupe tingled with an electric buzz. Jess pressed back and let her lips part slightly, a heady rush of excitement making her dizzy. Far too soon, Lupe broke it off and pulled back, grinning like a satisfied cat.

Jess pushes off the railing and begins the walk down the steep, cobbled road. “You were fucking landlocked,” Lupe calls after her.

Jess and Lupe decide to head south after the season ends to fulfill Jess' number one dream after baseball: crewing a shrimp boat. Which means a lot of alone time together... Hope that doesn't awaken anything in them...
