Think of the legends we’ve recorded over the centuries since, all the many ways that Hyrule has been saved from ruin by unimaginable power — do you think the Zonai really knew everything that would ever come to be?

Zelda doesn’t want to think about that. She stares openly at him, as if challenging him to inquire. He meets her eyes frequently, never for too long, but always with the unspoken question: What are you looking at?
You, she wants to say. She wants to say nothing at all. She wants Link to snap her out of this unbidden fantasy, to free her mind of its most recent craze. She needs him to. She needs him to shake her out of her thoughts or the next time he tries speaking to her she’ll jump him.
“What’s wrong?” He asks finally.
“The entire castle thinks we’re having sex,” Zelda blurts.

Summary
Prince Link is the last of seven siblings and the only alpha. This means that if he wants to make a mark in the service of his country that does not take the form of a prodigious marriage, he must find a field outside of his siblings’ shadow.
He takes the opportunity to travel the world beyond his tiny kingdom and is kidnapped by Hatenoan children to visit their haunted well. To his surprise, the well really is haunted.
“I AM THE GREAT MAGE ZELDA!” The frog woman with duckweed for hair. “WHAT IS THE FORM OF YOUR TRIBUTE?!”
