Light is wearing someone else’s clothes, a pale blue hoodie a few sizes too big that one of the nurses had given him from their locker, a kindness that Light had been too far gone to notice but which had nearly broken L. Light had needed something else, after. He’d thrown a fit when they tried to send them away without his old clothes.

Summary
L knows he can make Beyond jealous by talking to Light and he knows he needs too make Beyond jealous to feel happy and loved.
He is not doing anything wrong except for that he knows exactly what Beyond will make of it and when he sees Beyond emerge from the corner of his eye and sees the expression on his face which is dark and sharp and vile he understands that he has won. He pretends he has not seen and seals the deal by knocking two fingers against the inside of Light’s arm. It could be an accident — even Light looks down, unsure — but it is not and Beyond will know.

Summary
Nine months after L’s death from ED-related complications, Light comes to visit L’s partner, Beyond Birthday, at their home in England. Light had been in love with L, but it’s hard to say what that means now. The three of them met through the ED-focused website Light owns and moderates. Light claims to have recovered but he hasn’t; Beyond never made any such promises.
Because it’s not fair, it’s not fair, it’s not fair that Light is grasping for the wisps of him when Beyond had all the rest, and hadn’t Light loved him the most and the best? Hadn’t he deserved him? But he swallows that down because it doesn’t matter anymore. No one has him.

It's a bad night. He has those often, more often than he'd like to admit -- nights where everything crawls inside him like a poison, not some killing tool but something meant to be benign which missed the mark, a radioactive leak, a pesticide that lingered on the fruit. His skin feels claustrophobic, rotting around him.
