Summary
A very short canon scene alternate.
20x14, "Part 33" happens exactly a year after Barba's trial ends, on February 7 (and it just happened to be part 22). The first shot of Olivia is in front of the courthouse and it feels like a tribute to Barba's last shot, as well as, I guess, the entire theme of the episode that revolves around Olivia grappling with doing the right thing.
Now, I've never been a fan of Stone's, and that's putting it mildly. But the scene where he tells Liv to keep her 'bleeding heart' out of his courtroom makes me wanna strangle him with my bare hands every time.
In canon, he walks away, and so does she.
I've always felt like I REALLY wanted her to answer.

“We didn't exactly part as friends,” Olivia pointed out dryly.
“No, I guess you didn’t. But you used to be. When Mr. Barba left the DA’s office, you said it felt like losing the closest friend you’d ever had.”
“That was… then. Before.”
“The Wheatley trial.”
“Yes.”
“The one that Mr. Barba didn’t win, as I recall.”
“Not for the lack of trying.”
“Are you certain?”
That took her off guard, like a sudden gut-punch. For a long moment all she could do was stare, her mind aswirl in a blizzard of old hurts, unspoken doubts.
“It doesn’t matter why he did it,” she heard herself saying as if from somewhere far away. “It doesn’t matter what he did. I asked him not to defend Wheatley.” It was like a mantra, she suddenly realized, one she had been spinning for four years. It used to help. It used to ground her. It used to remind her why. -

Rafael inspected the box. It was something called ‘Rush Hour’ by Thinkfun. In the lower right corner it said ‘8 ’. He frowned. “I think you might be a little young for it, Noah.”
“Am not!” the boy protested. “I beat Mom all the time.”
Olivia gave Rafael an exhausted stare. “He’s not lying. I’m going to strangle Fin with my bare hands. This thing is addictive as f… hell. I asked him to get ‘My First Rush Hour’, but he said those were for dumb kids. This one?” She scoffed. “Is for dumb mothers. So… have fun, you towo. But after breakfast.”

Apparently, now I’m not good enough, because…” She attempted to imitate Noah’s tone. “...‘Uncle Rafa can do the voices’.”

In this AU... oh, screw it. This is not really an AU. It's a canon based flash forward, so to speak. Starting at the end of season 6, skipping pretty much anything that can happen in seasons 7 and 8, this is a story that happens almost 16 years later, a tribute to some people whose personal tragedies have been sidelined by the show, and are still being sidelined as we speak.
It's one young man's quest to find out the truth about a father he never knew, where it leads him, the things he discovers about the people in his father's life, and, along the way, about himself and his own family.
