Maddie takes in a sharp breath. “There’s so much we don’t know about them. And sometimes, I worry that— I don’t know, maybe we aren’t doing the right things for them? Or what if…what if we’re even doing the wrong things?”
The half-smile Tom offers her is sympathetic. “Those sound like questions every parent asks themselves.”
Maddie wants to do whatever she can to make her kids (see: an alien hedgehog, fox, and echidna) feel at home. Some research about their animal species is able to help her find a few ways to make their home even more welcoming, but when a certain black and red hedgehog comes back from the dead, well - sometimes, all you can do is offer kindness.

He doesn't know who he is anymore- or what he is. He only knows what he isn't; Asriel is gone, but what's left behind? He feels as though he's at a stalemate with himself. So he hides, quietly watching the world from afar, fearing that if he touches anything it'll crumble. (Although he can always undo it.)
From the very beginning, Papyrus is his favorite. Maybe it's because the skeleton is strong and cool, or maybe it's because of how entertaining he is, or maybe it's because he reminds him of his old best friend sometimes.
Or maybe it's because they are both so lonely.

Red was seriously done with today, and it had only just started. He overslept, again, which led to his Boss being late, again. That seriously pissed him off, Red might not care about his reputation, but he did. Blah blah blah. On top of that, Red forgot to clean and repair Edge’s battle body the night before, meaning he was not only late, but had to go around “LOOKING LIKE A SLOB LIKE YOU!!!”. The last words Red heard as his Boss stomped out of the house was to pick up his filthy sock pile after work, and to “NOT FALL ASLEEP AT YOUR POST AGAIN YOU LAZY-” before he grew too far away to hear.
