    Summary

The Kingdom of Rome has always been known to be strong and untouchable.

Well, until their old king dies, that is. With the coronation of his son, King Ahkmenrah plans a mission to retrieve an object precious to him; his golden tablet. The plan? Send one of his men in to impersonate a prince and gain the king's favor. The problem? The chosen man might just fall in love over there...

After escaping Kahmunrah's hourglass, Jedediah has a problem that's worse than non-functional guns: as it turns out, sand baths exfoliate more than a hand-painted miniature cowboy can afford.

Octavius takes it upon himself to make everything better.

"Turned out having a leader who didn’t get out and about meant the Mayor couldn’t do his own research for all his political bosh with other exhibits."

Jedediah may not be the official leader of the Old West but he has a lot of say. Especially when he's the one doing the research. He never expected trying to get a head start on roman politics would end up like this.

"Contrary to Jedediah’s teasing about how stuffy he could be Octavius hadn’t exactly been particularly proactive in making Rome’s alliance with the Old West official. Unfortunately enough of his men were uncomfortable without the political formalities for it to start becoming a problem."

Diplomacy was never particularly enjoyable for Octavius but a necessary evil. He never expected trying to make things official with the West would end up like this.

    Summary

If Jedediah’s glare could set fires, the General Store would be up in flames right about now, along with the few citizens of the Wild West who had been daring enough to go over and try to speak with the silently fuming cowboy.

Nobody knew what had their leader in such a state. Most days Jed was in a fairly good mood, and even when fights broke out between the Americans and the Romans - or, hell, if the Mayans managed to join in - Jedediah was all bright smiles and high energy, raring to take on anyone who came his way. He loved the fun of the fight more than whatever outcome it gave. But clearly something had the cowboy looking like somebody pissed in his whiskey...not that he was about to tell anyone else what that something was.

(In which Octavius is trying to mend fences on multiple fronts, Jedediah gets jealous, and a big misunderstanding leads to better things.)
