Summary
It's cliche just how much one phone call on a Friday night can change his life so fast. Bucky thought he was just being a good guy helping two friends home from the bar. When he discovers both of them so drunk they don't even recognize him, however, he finds himself listening to confessions that were never meant for his ears and learning things about a friendship he's never questioned before. Now he's questioning everything: his relationship, his happiness, and what he wants from the future.

Summary
Bucky Barnes is a fairly young vampire. He was turned during the Second World War when the Jerry bastards were slaughtering everyone in Azzano. Got lost somewhere in the chaos and rubble. His whole unit thought he had died. And, in some ways, he had.
After spending some time in Europe, not staying in one place for too long, he finally came home to Brooklyn. Figures there aren’t too many others like himself there so he could blend in. He isn’t too sure if it’ll be much different from Europe - a lot of solitude and figuring things out for himself.
The thing is, Bucky’s never met anyone else who is a vampire. Figured out what he was from reading, and then watching moving pictures. He doesn’t think there’ll be anyone like him his old stomping ground. That Eddie Murphy picture was a crock o’ shit, right? Even so, Bucky doesn’t let people know what he is. It’s too dangerous. He’s had practice at hiding important parts of himself away. Even before the war.

A recurring nightmare materializes before Bucky’s eyes.
In most of his dreams, Bucky is a young man falling from a train and crashing into crisp snow, a heavy thud, then haunting silence. In the rest of those dreams, Sam plummets to earth, wingless, then breaks. He tells himself often that they’re only dreams, that Sam is capable and skilled far beyond any combat-abled civilian he’s ever known. He reminds himself each time Sam’s in a fight that the suit is more than sufficient protection, that every fiber of vibranium absorbs impact and directs it away from Sam. Away. That had been his first and foremost request to Ayo. Always away.
But Sam’s not wearing vibranium today.

EXCERPT:
Sam heard the moans. The wet sound of teeth and lips and flesh. The ooze of blood into a mouth. She was writhing in ecstasy under his ministrations. Whoever the woman was paling in the moonlight, growing anemic with every slow suck from Bucky’s mouth.
Bucky and the woman locked eyes with Sam. They were both lost in a haze of need.
Bucky was a monster.
He was.
Blood poured from his mouth. Stained his cream-colored linen suit and satin peach button-down. Stuck in his five-o’clock shadow. Dripped from his long hair.
His impossibly blue eyes were ethereal; captivating; insatiable. His pupils were still blown as he wiped the blood from his lips with a handkerchief, as the woman slowly slid down the bricks of the back-alley wall.
She was still breathing. Her eyes fogged over.
Sam shouldn’t want this.
“Samuel,” Bucky drawled, still dripping blood.

“Yeah, yeah, “Bucky replied leaning into the teasing. “You sure never complained about the view before.”
“Of your narrow ass? Boy, please,” Sam rolled his eyes then and went to the cargo hold.
He dug around for a minute and then turned to face Bucky, who was staring at him as per usual.
“Here,” said Sam, holding out a dark garment bag. “Try this on.”

Throughout his life, Sam Wilson had grown used to the feeling of being watched.
The careful, loving eye of his mama as she sat on the porch and watched him play in the yard with his sister as a kid. The judgemental, fearful stares from white strangers as he went on his evening walks alone in a new city. The heated gaze of an admirer in one of the many clubs he found himself at in his early 20s. The calculated, steady survey of his superiors in the Air Force, watching him from the ground as he soared into the sky. Sam knew what they all felt like, and various others in between. He knew whether a stare that he felt was malicious or friendly; whether he would have to get ready for a fight or turn on the charm for whoever was waiting for him when he turned around.
But recently, Sam had been introduced to a new kind of stare; the cold, predatory gaze of one James Buchanan Barnes.

As if sensing Sam’s perusal, he glanced up, giving a brief nod and a tight smile, Sam hit with the most gorgeous pair of eyes he’d ever seen. Blue shimmered with gray, lending the stranger an ethereal quality that more than made up for his decidedly grungy appearance. Hair shaggy and unkempt, escaping the man bun he’d thrown it in, scruff lining a jaw that was probably too chiseled for Sam’s peace of mind…
He stiffened at the thought, wondering where it had even come from. He was not the sort to go checking out rando’s at airports, especially one that looked like he’d just rolled out of bed, opting out of the shower to save time because he was running late.
Sam was never late. This dude looked like he’d never made it on time for anything.
OR: Sam and Bucky are awkward, bickering guests at the same destination wedding and keep running into each other.
