“I want to get married,” Stiles says, petulantly.
Derek’s heart races at first, speeds with the excitement and exhilaration of the idea of it, before he realizes Stiles is holding Isaac’s wedding invitation, heavy cardstock with the pretentious french parfum wafting through the air.
“You just want presents,” he says, holding the door open and stepping back, so that Stiles can come in.
“No,” Stiles says. “I mean, yes, obviously I would have the world’s coolest registry and wouldn’t waste my time with crystal stemware, but that’s not my point.” He throws himself backwards onto Derek’s couch in a huff.
“You want to get married,” Derek repeats dryly.
“Exactly, my friend,” Stiles says, pointing at him. “Exactly.”

They’ve been talking about the ending of Jane Eyre, and Rochester’s fate, and the concept of disability as punishment, and his mind jumps to Derek ordering him to cut off his arm, and he wonders idly whether the arm would have grown back or, more likely, just healed over the stump immediately, and huh, he thinks with a sudden thrill, huh, there’s no way Derek Hale is circumcised.

It's actually bizarrely fitting, when Stiles thinks about it. Derek wasn't that far off from being a cat to begin with. He's well-groomed, but he doesn't always care where he sleeps. He's vicious and mean, but he also sort of wants people to like him. He tries his hardest to make friends with the people who like him the least.
