Summary
“Where were you?” asks Hopper.
“Out,” says Steve, “I told you,” because he did. He remembers leaving the house hours ago, just after dinner, telling Hop he was going out with some friends and he’d be back later. He did go out with some friends. He is back later. He's not entirely sure what the problem is.
But Hopper is glowering at him. “Do you know what time it is?”

Summary
He’s never been quite sure of where he stands with Jonathan. He likes the kid, feels protective of him the way he does of everyone in their ragtag little end-of-the-world group. And he’s pretty sure Jonathan likes him well enough too, or at least tolerates and grudgingly trusts him, but he’s never been able to shake the feeling that Jonathan rather resents Hopper’s place in his family’s lives. And that’s fair enough, Hopper supposes, given everything with Lonnie and the circumstances under which Hopper had started showing up. He doesn’t blame him.
Jonathan gags again—the sound is louder now and even more unpleasant from the hall than it had been from the bedroom—and Hopper finally forces himself to go to the door.

Summary
When they’ve left, Robin says, carefully, “They’re cool.”
“Huh? Oh—” Steve is flustered, and if Robin weren’t still feeling so off-balance herself, she’d laugh at him. “Yeah. Nancy seems nice.”
“You exhibited some remarkable self-control, not flirting with her with her boyfriend standing right there.”
“Oh, come on,” says Steve, “I haven’t stooped that low.”
(In which Robin makes some friends, finds a family, and, in spite of herself, falls in love.)

Jonathan finds himself lying in bed next to Steve Harrington. Somehow, it’s not the strangest thing that’s happened this week.

Summary
“I don’t need your help,” snaps Steve. It comes out more harshly than he means it to, but he’s pretty sure the effect is ruined by his voice breaking in the middle of the sentence. He swallows hard, humiliated to realize that his eyes are beginning to fill with tears. He won’t let himself cry. He won’t. He’s already embarrassed himself enough tonight without also breaking down completely in front of the chief of police.
Hopper doesn’t seem angry at the retort. If anything, his expression gets even softer. “Steve,” he says quietly. “Please just come inside.”

Summary
“So,” Mom says one weekend afternoon as she and Robin stare down the Sunday Times crossword, huddled together on the porch swing, “you and Steve Harrington sure have been living in each other’s pockets lately.” She puts down the pen and gives Robin a carefully-probing smile disguised as a teasing one. “Anything you wanna tell me?”
Yeah; I’m gay, Robin thinks. Her throat constricts painfully. “I—you’d know if I were dating someone,” she says instead.

Summary
Eleven aims all her mental energy at the empty can of Coke. Specifically, she’s trying to make it float, but she’ll take any kind of movement - a crush, a squeeze, a skittering across the counter like it’s just been slapped, or even just a single, little twitch.
Instead, it bursts into flames.
