“Well, this is the appetiser. And this is the main course and this dessert.” Luke pointed at each plate as he mentioned them.Din chuckled and something in his eye glinted. “And have you ever started with dessert?”
Luke had to think back. “No.”As a challenge, Din picked the slice of blueberry pie from his own dessert plate to his bare hand, bit off a corner and smiled at Luke with blue-stained lips.
Luke’s heartbeat raced up. The thought felt like rebellious. If anyone in the Guard knew… But they would not have to know, and that exactly felt like intriguing. Luke let the appetiser cutlery drop and picked his piece of blueberry pie in his hands

Luke was absolutely stunned. He knew his insistence on being involved with the Republic's reclamation efforts had made people uncomfortable but he didn't realise they'd become this eager to get rid of him.
"For the good of the Republic," Chancellor Cressa insisted, as if it should be obvious. And perhaps the man thought that Luke's inevitable murder should, obviously, be for the good of the Republic, for all Luke could tell.
"Of course," Luke spoke as calmly as he could manage.
It would hardly be the worst thing he'd been asked to do “for the good of the Republic,” after all.Luke Skywalker, the Jedi Exile, just wants to try to help the Republic rebuild after the Mandalorian Wars but instead finds himself in an arranged political marriage.

Summary
The Rebel Alliance has their doomed cause, and now Han Solo has his: Keep Luke Skywalker breathing until he realizes what a karking naïve idiot he is and unquestioningly follows all of Han's advice.
Han Solo is a scoundrel, and a rogue, and a guy who's just trying his best when Luke Skywalker fumbles chest over camtono into his life. Turns out, he might actually sort of love the kid in all the ways there is to love another person, even as they fight in a civil war, and life and circumstances change both them and everything else around.
The problem is that Luke is a little lonely by nature and is always on the hunt for love, and Han, who's sworn to protect him from both the galaxy at large and Luke's own efforts toward idiotic martyrdom, doesn't think that there's really anybody in the galaxy who's good enough for him. He's not going to stick his nose into any of Luke's relationships, not if Luke doesn't want him to, but boy howdy do they give him one hell of a headache.
[Or, the 5 1 things fic that spun entirely out of my control, where it's Han, Luke, the five men who loved and lost Luke, and the one he eventually married, all over the course of 10 years. Spoiler alert, it's not Han.]
