This story broke me. Canon could never, but I'm glad that The Magicians existed because it inspired the author to write this. Before I read the book, my friend told me "this is a series about depression", and it is, but this fic is the story about depression and recovery that I needed. It struck a chord with me emotionally that I can't really explain.
