In which I explore characters that I usually don't talk about and/or rewrite scenes and events to add more substance to them. Some of the events are canon, other made-up stuff are what I think would happen.

    Summary

After a moment, when his fingers uncurl in a quiet exhale and start to reach instead of refrain, Scar turns towards him and snakes a careful arm around his waist. Grian huffs, but relaxes his stiff shoulders, which Scar takes as an invitation to draw him closer into himself.

“Dude, you’re like a teddy bear,” Scar says into Grian’s soft hair.

“And you’re a barnacle,” Grian grumbles, and shifts beneath Scar’s grip. Scar releases him, unsure if he’d gone too far, but all Grian does is tug Scar further into his space and tuck his head beneath Scar’s chin. Scar chooses to blame the heat that spreads across his cheekbones on the sudden temperature change. “You’d be warmer with a shirt, you know.”

“Where’s the fun in that?” Scar says. Grian mutters something unintelligible, but his argument evens out with his breath; in one last sigh, he’s asleep.

Scar and Grian across the seasons, and the beds they share throughout.

    Performance Issues, HotGuy?
    By Grian

In recent weeks, HotGuy has been leaving much to be desired on the battlefield. It seems after many long, hard fights, he just can’t keep it up. He used to be quite anal about his victories, but now he’s had a few close calls. Could it be that his arrows just aren’t what they used to be? Is he firing blanks? I wouldn’t be surprised if his enemies are having to fake their defeat. Of course, HotGuy is far from the only man who struggles to hit the target, so maybe I shouldn’t be so harsh.
Three of HotGuy’s record fights for injuries and collateral damage have all occurred this month, an alarming statistic in the face of the continued attacks. The root of the issue may be difficult to swallow…

    Summary

Cleo reappears in the mirror, this time holding a small golden crown. It’s circular, elegant, streamlined. Less of a focus on jewels and more about the curve of the metal. When she places it on his head and starts pinning it into place, it nestles into the strands of his hair like it’s coming home. “The damn treaty, where we send someone off to enemy territory–”

Cub coughs, unseen. “Not enemies anymore.”

“–to get married to a man he’s never met!”

    Scar’s stomach twists.

(or, the scarian arranged marriage fic that blossomed from a "quick one shot guys this is fine" to a 16k monster. You're welcome.)

    Summary

The guards left, slamming the door shut behind them, and Pearl felt her hair stand on end as the wards reactivated, a staticky zing traveling through her shackles and grounding in her skin.

The prisoner startled, levered himself up and hissed through his teeth. “Right, that wasn’t the smartest decision I’ve made this week,” he remarked quietly. “Scar? Are you across from me?”

Shuffling in the opposite cell. “Can you do me a favor?” a second voice asked. “The next time you threaten guards, can you try to have a weapon first to strike fear into their hearts? I think you broke our hand.”

“We have another,” the man said defensively, and Scar huffed a laugh. “And anyway– oh. There’s someone else in here with me.”
