Summary
Larry didn't have the best life growing up, but it certainly wasn't the worst it could've been either. So why did he feel like this? Other people have it worse, so why can't he just be happy? Every day he wishes it would get easier but it just doesn't. Things start to look up though, when a familiar face moves into room 502.
In this AU the cult doesn't exist. Travis's dad was a reverend with extremist views, Larry's dad left for other reasons, Sal and his mom were shot by one of her exes. Etc etc, feel free to ask any questions about this au in the comments.
Also please check the trigger warnings at the beginning of each chapter, and let me know if any need to be added. The tags should cover everything but they may not apply to all chapters. This is gonna have smut eventually as well, but I really want to set things up right.

Being a merc, V worried that since people knew Kerry was always at his Villa, it made him an easy target. Even with the robots, V was able to slip past them the first time he broke into Kerry’s like it was nothing. He wanted to make sure that Ker could take care of himself if he wasn’t there to protect him. V used his Kiroshi’s to try and use weapon glitch on Kerry.

It used to be so much worse. Johnny’s always run away from his problems, drowning them in booze, drugs and sex. One time, he was gone for a whole week and Kerry was frantic. When Johnny got back, V thought Kerry might actually deck him—he would have deserved it. At least he’s stopped disappearing without a word. And he was only gone two days this time. V almost laughs; is the bar really set so low that this is a good thing? Johnny’s better, Johnny’s trying, that’s what they always say to try and justify his behaviour. It’s not enough, though. Or it shouldn’t be.

The closer he gets to the anniversary of the Arasaka HQ disaster, the more Johnny is starting to feel the weight of it. He and V narrowly escaped with their lives, and no one knows of their involvement in the attack, but three quarters of a million lives weighs heavy on the soul. Johnny copes with the guilt as best he can, but unfortunately, his coping mechanisms aren't exactly healthy, for him or for the men he loves.
