Michael looks at his father, trying to process the words, “What?”
“Get the fuck out.”
“Are you kidding?” Michael asks genuinely. He seems baffled.
William doesn’t look at him, “Get out.” He repeats. His hands are clenched onto the wheel and his shoulders are strained.
Michael looks down and then looks up at his father again, “Fuck you.” He spits and opens the door. He then takes a step in a puddle. He could feel the water soak his shoes and socks, but he ignores it and slides out of the vehicle. He aggressively slams the door shut and watches as his father drives off in his shitty purple car.
