Hawk drops his voice like hers, but the way he says the next words forces a thought into her head that she cannot seem to push away. “And what’s that, princess?”
Samantha LaRusso does not look away from his eyes—his expressive, unique eyes—as she replies, the words coming from a place deep inside her chest: “How much I fucking hate you.”
The spark in his eyes return, all in its beautiful glory, and it’s actually there, she can see it with her own two eyes. And god, it really does something strange, but pleasant to her chest. Hawk smirks then, and the small gesture is enough to send her heart hammering. “Say that again.”

Hawk pulls her closer by the small of her back until there is barely a breath between them, and Sam swears something inside her head implodes.
She is very aware of herself and what her body is doing, but Sam can’t seem to move her arms from her sides. God what is wrong with her?
Hawk seems to notice this too and helps her. He grabs her hands and moves them up to his neck, his fingers slowly gliding down her arms until goosebumps rise. “We are going to dance, princess,” he says, taking one glance at the couple next to them, “and show them what they’re made of.”
