“Less than some but more than most?” Nanami tries, before sighing and giving up. Both her eyes open as she sits upright. Her hair, cropped short and frazzled from laying down, catches the late afternoon light and turns to spun gold. She's beautiful like she's the only real thing in the world. When Sumika reaches out to smooth her hair back, her fingers brush against warm skin, against the uneven tips of her bathroom cut.
Nanami doesn't move away; her tone only gentles.

Summary
“Why are you helping me?” Nanami asks plainly. Geto only tilts his head to the side, as if looking at a small child, deciding the best way to answer a particularly stupid question.
“Why wouldn't I?” Geto returns. He still seems untroubled by Nanami's weight, his step unhurried, breathing slow and even. Nanami is fairly sure he's bleeding onto the outermost layer of his robes, but the dark fabric renders it invisible, nothing but a shadow and a trick of the light. Not so with his own suit, which shows every drop of blood.

He wants the sunlight in Gojo’s kitchen to sink into his ribcage and light up the darker spaces inside there. He still wants that house by the sea, but now he doesn't want to be there alone.
