Summary
Brady’s fingers twitch at his sides, aching to do something: to hold a yoke, to button up a flight suit, to feel the cool brass of an instrument beneath his fingers. There’s a half a dozen smokes in his jacket pocket, almost burning a hole through the fabric with their weight, but he doesn’t reach for them. There’s precious little anything here, let alone cigarettes, and he’s determined to save them. Why? Because he’s disciplined and though he yearns for the pleasant burn of smoke down his throat, he has some self-control.

Summary
Any sailor will tell you that the ocean is unpredictable. One minute placid and calm, and the next it could take a whole crew’s life. Caleb has always drawn to that unpredictability, but now he realizes that he needs an anchor. Something to steady him and keep him grounded, to keep him from fleeing. He’s been running for years, trying to find his heart in a place.
Now, Caleb realizes that his heart is not the flat expanse of the sea, or the booze and coin. His heart has always been here, waiting patiently for him.
