Summary
It's on the Raft when Scott learns that he and Clint have something in common. Clint, as it turns out, is just as guilty of being an absent superhero father as Scott is, and they both desperately want to fix that. It creates a brief but much needed form of solace for them both. When Scott returns to the states under house arrest, he never really expects to see Clint again.

Jedediah's worked too hard to get into college to let some crummy English class keep him from graduating. Plus, this super pretty girl said she'd go out with him if he passed. So he goes to sign up for a student tutor program. And guess who his tutor is?
Octavius has had everything practically spoon fed to him his entire life, and he's decided he's had enough career chasing. So he takes a gap year after graduation to work for his department. Filing documents, doing research, and a new job at helping some undergrads pass their classes. And guess who he's tutoring?

Summary
The old west wasn't known for it's love of queer people (I know, shocker, Brokeback Mountain was sad actually), which is rather an issue for Jed, as his respect and platonic love for Octavius may be starting to really stretch the definition of 'platonic'.

As the strong leaders they are, Jedediah and Octavius are very good at ignoring matters that don't pose an immediate problem. Soulmates? Not important. But as they grow closer, and repeated near-death experiences threaten to tear them apart, the issue becomes harder and harder to ignore.

Octavius has fallen in love. But he can't seem to get over the pride that tells him the man he's fallen for is much too far beneath him. Nonetheless, he confesses-and it's safe to say Jedediah won't take kindly to being talked down to.
In other words I took a few of the key chapters of Pride and Prejudice and just re-wrote them (obviously making them a lot shorter and simpler) with Jedediah as Bennet and Octavius as Darcy. Enjoy!
