Summary
Max turns around, scanning the room for a servant passing by with a tray of crystal glasses, when he hears laughter again, but not of the squeaking-hinges-variety, no, this time it’s a clear, dazzling laugh, bright as a bell, ringing around the room and Max’s gaze instinctively jumps over the people gathered around to find the source of it. When his eyes find the culprit, he has to lean back in awe against the balcony railing for a moment.

Summary
It’s an old spiel, a tired one as well, and Marc is old enough by now to see right through it.
The thought of Marc moving on, of leaving him behind when Valentino is left standing with his hands still drenched in the blood of what they’d been, clearly bothers him, still, even after all these years. So, Valentino would rather pick and scratch at barely scabbed over wounds to keep Marc with him at the crime scene of their past than be left alone in the mess that he’d made. Another interview, another podcast, another quote to a magazine – no end to their story; only a row of never-ending semicolons in Valentino’s handwriting.

“Yes, since Baku,” strangely enough, he sounds fond.or: what happens in room 309

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I see plenty of room for you to sit down.” Laughter ringing around the room, Max and Nico stare each other down. The implications are obvious, but surely Max wouldn’t–? They could easily make space for him, between Pierre and himself or between Alex and Nico. There was no need for Max to–
Charles feels as if his mind is wrapped in cotton. Before he manages to grasp a single clear thought, Max walks towards Nico, turns, and places himself right on his lap.
