    She tries to make her words sound like a warning, but her voice is too unsteady. She straightens her spine, forcing herself not to cower, though she grips the strut for courage, trying to take refuge in the hum of the TARDIS. Do something, she silently pleads.

    Aloud, she says, "If there"s something you want—if you"re in trouble—we can help you, just bring the Doctor back."

    Lines deepen in the man"s face as he frowns. But he stays where he is, to her relief.

    "That’s very kind of you, but I am the Doctor."
