And Kai had no other choice but to go along with it as his eyes filled with tears. "Y... Yes."
(Kai had a really large family. They used to be very happy, but after his father's little business had gone bankrupt, they didn't have enough to eat. As he was the only son, he was the only one that could do anything for them. It was his duty to help his family. He had to do this for them.)

Summary
Soobin is absolutely floating, back to the locker room to get a shower and get changed, on his bike to work, and then at the animal clinic. But the floating turns into sinking… because, well, here's the list:
1) Soobin's never thought about liking guys before, and now he thinks he does, because he does like Kai, and Kai is definitely a guy, but he's really pretty and Soobin likes likes him. That's sort of a big realization to have.
2) It's Kai, his ride-or-die, his best friend since childhood, and also Soobin's first, well, real kiss. And they didn't really define what they were when the left school. Soobin doesn't want to mess this up.
3) The problem with the darkness haunting Kai is still a problem and it's driving him crazy.
