Summary
"Fascinating," Sherlock murmurs, draped lazily over the bed, his chin resting on John’s stomach; scarred, splotchy, beautiful fingers trailing over John’s chest.
Shifting, John looks down at him, takes in the observation, Sherlock’s evident profound interest, the comfort of their closeness.
Sherlock is breathing against him, tracing him, studying him – and John...
…John loves him.

Summary
“I know how to fight,” John insists, petulantly.
Sherlock scoffs. “You couldn’t put that poor technician out of his misery after you broke his bloody nose.”
“That was one time. I was trying to knock him out like – you know, how they do in the movies.”
John is standing in front of Sherlock’s chair.
Which, in fact, Sherlock is sitting in, a spool of boxing tape in one hand. He takes one of John’s hands into his own, turns it over, catalogs the roughness of his palms and the calluses and scars that trail up his fingers. Then, carefully, he begins to wrap them away, spinning the tape around and between them.
They will, after all, be boxing.

Summary
Even in the darkness of the room, Sherlock can see the intensity in John’s eyes.
He is alive. He is holding Sherlock’s hand against his chest. His heart is beating steadily, eagerly, his chest rising and falling rhythmically.
Frustration bleeds away into something like grief, into something like sorrow and regret and an overwhelming sense of care.
He cares. He cares so much.
“I’m sorry,” he finally manages. His voice cracks. “John.”
