It's a defense mechanism, the way Detective Naomasa describes it. Apply enough pressure on a cornered Quirkless individual, and some part of their brain breaks away to what can only be described as "animalistic instinct."
They move faster. Seem stronger. Identify weaknesses on a threat faster than a vast majority of other quirked individuals do. It provides a kind of rush of adrenaline that acts as a final Hail Mary before the Quirkless are run into the ground by a world that's outgrown them. Izuku isn't quite sure if he believes in the theory just yet.
Though with the blood already on his hands and a bounty above his head – he figures there's no harm in starting to.

Shouyou makes sure to stick close to the other guards he’s been assigned to—the castle’s imposing exterior translates well to the inside, every hallway looking just like any other, and he’d like to get an idea of the layout quickly. His hand comes to rest on the hilt of the sword at his hip, wishing he had even just one of his daggers instead. They’re so much more efficient. But, well, the sooner he gets the job done, the sooner he can leave this place and wear whatever he wants again. He’s done it time and time again, really, it’s simple: infiltrate the guard, find the crown prince and verify the rumors, and deal with him.

He has a flawless track record, after all. There aren’t that many other assassins out there who can say the same.

Shouyou is an assassin. Atsumu is the crown prince he's be tasked with getting rid off. That proves to only be the start of their story.

She steps with caution, keeping each footfall light and nearly silent. She knows their prisoner (patient?) can sense her presence anyway, but the sentiment of the action holds all the same.
The 9-inch glass in front of her separates the hero from her goal—transparent but bulletproof, perfect for its function. The girl places her palm over it, touch gentle and calm with her special gloves firmly in place. Her hand comes up to rap softly against the barrier as she knocks three times precisely as she's been doing for weeks now.
The sole resident of the glass cage turns around at the sound of her knuckles against the glass.
"Ochako-chan!" she greets with a vibrant smile.
Uraraka nods solemnly in acknowledgment.
"Good to see you, Himiko."

Predictably, he loses his chill. Multiple times.
The future is so fucking weird, Izuku thinks to himself as he watches an older, much stronger, and much, much hotter version of Bakugou Katsuki teach him how to use a UA standard-issue washing machine. His voice is gruff and low like how Kacchan will always be, but there’s an undertone of fondness that catches him wholly off-guard.
So fucking weird, indeed.

Raise the blood underneath his skin and twist his joints painfully until they crumble to the touch. He will do all of this. Over and over and over again. Because he doesn't half-ass anything and knows that he himself is worth nothing less than perfection in its truest form.
Katsuki Bakugou is a perfectionist.
And, as with everything else, this same principle applies to his atonement.

Pro Hero Ground Zero is asked to join a special operation which fights against a particular human trafficking ring. His specific orders? Blend into their clientele and find a way to their bosses and whoever produces the weird golden chains that bind the victims to the highest bidder via a quirk. If he can find out who the mole in the Hero Organisation is, he'll maybe get a raise on top.
Midoriya Izuku went missing four years ago.
These two things are related, but come full circle when Katsuki and Izuku end up bound together. Neither of them really mind, which is probably a good thing considering they are stuck like this for the forseeable future and the sake of Katsuki's cover.
Izuku tries his best to catch up to a life that has left him behind by now.
Katsuki wants nothing more than to help, even if it's four years too late and he's not sure how.

Izuku watches long fingers slowly reach out of the glass, wrapping themselves around the mirror’s edge as the man steps into real life. It smells like sugar and smoke. The clouds follow him out as he bows his head to fit his deadly-looking horns through the frame, red tattoos glowing faintly all over his bare torso and half onto his leathery wings. He makes the rest of the room seem dimmer just by standing in it. Molten metal eyes bore into Izuku’s, paralysing him as he kneels on the floor in front of this beautiful, terrifying apparition.
“I summoned you because want a boyfriend,” Izuku says and then winces at the shallowness of his own request. “I mean, I want to fall in love. I want to be assured that I’ll find someone someday who’ll love me the way I love them. Who isn’t grossed out by me. By the way I am.”
The demon tilts his head. "I offer you a place at my side. You want companionship? I give it in exchange for your soul.”

It was a dumb dare for Izuku to text his high school crush that he "needed" them. Now after more that two years of not talking while Izuku worked as a hero in America, Kaachan was standing at his door.
“I’m sorry, Kaachan.” Izuku started. “I just don’t know why you actually…”
Kaachan scoffed, cutting him off.
“I can count the number of times on one fucking hand that you’ve asked me for help. So when you said you needed me… Yeah. I thought it was fucking important.” Kacchan looked over Izuku’s shoulder again towards the giggling. “Clearly it wasn’t.”
Okay. Maybe Izuku deserved that.
