Summary
He stared at the paper with a skeptical look. There had to be a catch, something that gave her an advantage. Well, the advantage would be that he'd live longer, right? So he wouldn't die during the five year contract. He'd be more upbeat, or lively as The Handler had stated, so he'd be faster. He assumed that's what she meant. It will fix him, she said, he'll be better.
She handed him a pen.

Summary
With the Hargreeves returned to their original timeline with Five still trapped in a teenage body and no legal guardians or place to call home, it’s not long before the state’s involvement and a couple of court cases before his placement into the foster system.
It isn’t like it really matters anyway. Five can spatial jump and travel through time. A pesky foster family that aren’t particularly nice aren’t ever getting in the way.
But when the lives of his siblings are endangered yet again by an unknown source full of blackmailing threats, Five realises he’s run out of options.
So he does what he’s asked. He avoids his siblings, stays put in his temporary home, and does everything in his power to keep them safe. Besides, it’s not as if they have to know, right?
Then he kills his foster father.
And things start to get very, very complicated.

Summary
The good news: They’ve made it out of the Sparrow timeline.
The bad news: They’re still not home. One timeline closer, but things still aren’t right. It’s 2013 and there’s an Umbrella Academy, at least; one where Five never time traveled.
It’s a race for the Hargreeves to all catch up with one another, Five to figure out how to get them home (for real this time), and stay one step ahead of a Commission no longer on their side. The other Five would also really like to know how his world is supposed to end in six short years.

The man stares at him without blinking, chest rising and falling quickly before he stops and takes carefully controlled breaths. Viktor stares back, eyes wide and holding his breath, not daring to believe, but doing anyway.
“Viktor,” he rasps, voice almost unrecognizable. But that’s his brother, that’s his brother.
Or: Five returns after two years and eight months missing, for his siblings anyway.
