"What, like beer pong?" June says, nose wrinkling.
"No," Alex interjects. "Truth or dare."
"You read my mind, Alexander." Nora turns to open the mini-fridge. "What would everyone like to drink?"
"Henry and I will take vodka if you've got it," Pez says. Henry narrows his eyes at Pez, trying to communicate his alarm, but Pez simply grins back, feral, licking his top teeth.

Summary
"I'm Henry," the guy offers. Alex pushes up one rep, then another. The blood is rushing to his face as he powers through more, and seems to be rushing elsewhere as well, because there's undeniable arousal pooling in his groin from the exertion. He struggles slightly for a moment, then, and instead of taking over like Alex expects, his new best friend Henry starts—talking. "That's good, so good. Perfect, can you give me another?"
Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Sweat pours down Alex's forehead as he pushes the bar back up off his chest.
"Beautiful, just beautiful. So good for me. There you are, love." Henry helps Alex settle the bar back on the rack, and Alex exhales in a rush, his heart thudding almost painfully against his chest. Fuck.
PUMP Gym is notorious for gay guys cruising, and Alex wants to hook up.

Summary
The French doors leading to the office are thrown open, so he has a moment to take in the scene in front of him: Alex, lying on his stomach on the floor, feet kicked up and crossed at the ankle, surrounded by books, papers, and two open laptops. None of that, however, catches Henry's attention as much as Alex's hair, secured in a small, messy knot on top of his head with nothing but a single wooden chopstick. Henry blinks rapidly several times.
"Alex," Henry says, somehow hoarse. Alex's head whirls around. There's a single, perfectly curled tendril over the apple of his cheek; his scruff has hit the mystical, magical point where it's more soft beard than prickly shadow; his reading glasses sit atop his adorable nose; and Henry realizes with sudden gravity that he's not entirely in control of his physical responses anymore—something has to give.
Alex hasn't really been bothering with some of his usual upkeep, and Henry is kind of extremely into it.

Summary
It's always like this between them—despite all the complex pressures Wille's facing that only shed layers of different but related pressures onto Simon, it feels so easy when it's just the two of them, when they can exhale fully and say everything that's on their minds. Simon has seen Wille bound up tight with anxiety, biting his lips and rubbing his collarbone; he's held him more than once as Wille tried to gasp out words and struggled for air. The contrast now is stark, his limbs loose and his laughs coming easy.
Wilhelm invites Simon to spend the night alone with him at the royal palace for New Year's Eve.

Instead he found it here, the one place he never wanted to be. In a chapel, in a boy, in a song.

Summary
Wanting Alex’s blood is nothing new. Wanting Alex as a whole is nothing new. But Henry knows that it’s a dead end—one that will most likely lead to his own demise if he allows himself to drift too far into his orbit. No matter how attracted Henry is to him, how much he’s imagined the sweetness of his blood on his tongue, how much he’s envisioned the contrast of Alex’s skin against his bedsheets, it doesn’t change the facts. It doesn’t change who they are.
Henry, born into a role he never asked for, and Alex, born into a bloodline bred to exterminate him.

"Decided to take the afternoon off to bump into pedestrians?" Alex asks as he gets to his feet, brushing off his chinos and pushing his glasses back onto his face where they've started to slide down his nose. "Shouldn't you be off somewhere writing about men in passionate embraces?"
Henry regards him coolly over the armful of papers he's managed to retain complete control of, somehow, and Alex notices vaguely that he's got a smudge of ink just below his jaw.
"Shouldn't you be taking a 1L lecture in," Henry pauses, looking at his watch, "less than five minutes?"
"Fuck," Alex says again. "Fucking shit." Then he turns around and leaves Henry to bump into more people, probably, since that seems to be his only fucking agenda for the day.

Professor Alex Claremont-Diaz despises Professor Henry Fox, so naturally they get roomed together at a conference. Alex is fine.

Summary
Henry has read it all: fairy-tales of princes and their courters, unsung histories of kings and their secret lovers, and he has read all their happy endings. But he is not a prince in a fairy-tale, and he has always thought his own secret love story was likelier to end in tragedy.
Perhaps it’s time that changed.
