She’s close, too- Lana doesn’t know when she crept forward, or if they had always been this close and she just hadn’t been thinking, but Mia’s face is near enough to Lana’s that she can feel Mia’s words on her cheek. “Do I need a reason?” she manages. “Can’t I come see you for…” She stares at Mia’s deep brown eyes and feels any word she might have said escape her.

Puberty hits him like a freight train, hair and fur and stretch marks, and he always feels too big and he knows he is stupid and poor, but girls seem to like him all the same, and people tell him that’s a good thing and he believes them.
