He stares at himself. The bruises Louis’ teeth left on his throat are gone, if they were ever there at all. Aside from a little red around the eyes, a little tremor in the hands, he’s beautiful. He’s always beautiful. Often he asks himself what it might have been like if his maker had allowed him to be anything else, anything but.
It’s been six hundred years and he still can’t come up with an answer.

Louis finds him in a nondescript apartment in Paris, curled up sideways on the floor with one arm tucked under his head as a pillow and the other wrapped tight around his knees. He’s completely motionless, and as quiet as a lamb.
A flash of anger floods Louis’s mind at the sight of him—his former lover, the manipulator, the liar—but it goes away as quick as it came. Because the figure on the floor isn’t Armand anymore. It’s Arun: frightened, anxious, and worried. Worried that he’s been abandoned for good, again.
“Arun,” Louis says, gently. “Arun, can you hear me?”
