Summary
Xie Lian, naturally, feels a little guilty about never seeming to be able to get the perfect gift for his dearest, darling husband Hua Cheng — or never knowing quite what to get while his San Sang always gets the perfect gifts. An idea strikes Xie Lian one day in Paradise Manor’s gargantuas library: a star as a gift! Only, most of the poor souls who lassoed a star, according to all the books Xie Lian could find, died in process or succumbed to severe injuries days later.
Xie Lian, of course, tries it anyway. He’ll have to be careful!

The most dangerous thing is a man who is bored. Boredom and a man with a gun license is quite a notably dangerous combo (Dazai didn’t actually have a gun license, funnily enough. You’d assume because he was previously in the Port Mafia that he’d have to have acquired one, but that’s exactly why you should expect that he doesn’t have one.) So, when boredom stuck Osamu, the detective only did what was natural.
He breaks into Chuuya’s apartment.

The silly Christmas movie is still playing, but Xie Lian can’t hear it, too attuned to the heavy, steady breaths coming from Hua Cheng, the pink that dusts across his cheeks, and that look of sweet adoration mixed with a little terror in his eyes. He still hasn’t looked away, and Xie Lian feels like they’re on the edge of something beautiful and new.
And then the tension snaps.
