    Himeko and Kafka are total opposites.

    Kafka is cunning, calculated, and manipulative, and loves to push people’s boundaries infuriatingly close to their limits. She hides her emotions behind layers and layers of walls that you have to slowly peel back like an open wound to even get a glimpse at what she’s truly feeling. She would destroy the world for you, and she would destroy both you and herself if it meant following the script.

    Himeko is none of those things. Himeko is reliable, mature, and logical, and she would never give up her entire life for someone like Kafka. It doesn’t matter how much she wants to. She never, ever will.

    Kafka wanted to feel fear so that she could fear loss. So that she could stop being so reckless all the time, and realize the value in the temporary that she would one day lose no matter what.

    But now…now everything has gone to shit. What is there left to fear if the one thing she knew she would regret losing is already gone? Her wife is dead. She’s never coming back. There’s nothing left for her to be afraid of, even if she was capable of feeling it.
