Roy knew Keeley Jones, of course. How could he not? She once jumped out of an airplane topless to advertise cheeseburgers or some shit. He’d seen her around, too, working her way through footballers, and most recently as one of the brand ambassadors for a sponsor of his. He didn’t know who she was with that night. Might have been a footballer, like all of her previous boyfriends, but Roy didn’t recognize him. He recognized fewer and fewer of the young players these days, partly because he just didn’t give a fuck anymore, partly because he couldn’t really stand to look at them. Their youth made him feel about one hundred years old, and he didn’t need the reminder. Still, this one was nice to look at. Handsome face, square jaw, pretty eyes, and he looked good with Keeley Jones on his arm. They looked good together.

Jamie is always buzzing around Roy, like an annoying mosquito, if one had tremendous affection and the occasional carnal thoughts for said mosquito.

Roy, who has never once looked at Jamie Tartt’s arms with anything other than detached professionalism, and really only during the rare instances when he was on spotting duty at the weight bench, downs an entire glass of wine and resigns himself to what amounts to psychological torture every Wednesday evening for the foreseeable future.
Roy reluctantly watches the entire season of Lust Conquers All.
Despite that, he doesn't really figure out how to deal with Jamie Tartt until months later.
