Black hedgehog ears flicker towards the giggling gossip, the gloved hand that was outreached to the determining factor of his future pausing.
“He might as well win every year. That hedgehog is never settling down.”
Both ears press back against his head, a grimace spread across his tan muzzle.
“Well, his catchphrase is ‘Gotta Go Fast.’ I doubt there’s anyone who would be able to keep up with him.”
Focus, his mind chides. Grab the test and get out of here.

Shadow"s never been good at subtext.
If it"s not said outright, chances are he won"t get it. It"s a bit of a curse, really. That he takes everything literally. He"s realized this by being best friends with the queen of subtly. Thankfully she sees Shadow for who he is and is literal with him. Others? Not so much.
Or, 5 times Sonic spoke another language and 1 time Shadow did.
