Summary

Following the near-fatal shooting on the streets of Los Angeles, a home where he should have felt safe, former firefighter Eddie Diaz is sent on a downward spiral. His job isn’t the only thing he’s lost. Eddie’s mind is slowly slipping away as past and present nightmares haunt him. Even the endlessly optimistic efforts by Buck, his best friend and veritable co-parent, are unable to pull Eddie out of the deep pit.
Eddie is beginning to think he may never find his way out when he meets a service dog called Lucky, who has both a heart and a coat of gold. Eddie will need to find room for another creature (and another person) in his heart to heal from all that life has thrown at him.
