Summary
During Arthur’s coma, the entity sinks into a bizarre new realm and meets “Skip Button Ending” Narrator, soon finding that they might have more in common than initially expected.
‘It was the first fleck of color he had seen since his descent. Its brilliant yellowness caught his eye amongst the blackness, and as the entity approached, he beheld it. A flat line lay at his feet, which drove straight ahead and stretched infinitely. Its glossy surface was almost holographic, like road paint, and it reflected his luminescent eyes.’
A dance with death, a disheveled stranger, a discussion…

*Record scratch* *Freeze frame* Yep. That’s me. You’re probably wondering how I ended up in this situation. Well, my name is W.D. Gaster, and it all started in the summer of 2009, at this little experiment called the CORE, when I was just getting ready to check my Twitter ratios…
Welcome to Cringe City. You’re standing at the corner of Headcanon Drive and Fanon Way. Did’ja just blow in from Deltarunetown?
I don’t even know what this is. I guess it’s a character study of everyone’s #1 who isn’t even canonically proven to exist. One day the phrase “pre-disaster Gaster” invaded my mind and wouldn’t leave until I drew a regular monster design for him before ‘core-ification,’ haha. Also, frilled lizards were on my mind, for better or for worse? I don’t have a phone so you’ll have to leave it up to your imagination as to what that looks like.

The persistent wear of time unravels friendly sutures of distant iterator neighbors, revealing rotten interiors. Creations falling in their creator's footsteps are doomed to suffer their fallbacks. Something unfortunate is developing...
...Wait, what kind of mollusk would write Rain World fanfiction? Me, of course
Notice: Hear ye, hear ye. There be Downpour spoilers! This is my interpretation of the events and dialogue in Rain World. I’ve incorporated my headcanons, however it’s mostly based on canonical information. The most that we can gather is from pearls, and these leave room for theories and timeline gaps. I may get a detail wrong, and you’re welcome to correct me. I’m open to advice.
The beginning of this takes place in the timeline gap shortly before Spearmaster’s campaign, when Looks to the Moon was functional and the rot didn’t yet exist.
Also, you may not understand some context if you don’t know the Rain World and Downpour storyline. I think you can enjoy it fine if you don’t know Rain World, but you might miss some references.
