Summary
“So, uh. Arthur is doing better-? Not like, healed better. But… The curse has stopped attacking him?” Merlin really tried to put as much nonchalance into his voice as possible, but Gaius knew him too well. More often than not, when Merlin did something to create problems for himself, he would leave out large parts of what had actually happened. Gaius raised his eyebrow to show Merlin he knew as much.
Finally giving up the act, he slumped down in his seat. “I kind of trapped Arthur’s soul in here with me,” he said weakly gesturing toward his head in defeat.
Gaius looked back at him with a special kind of fear. The one that came from having to hide something that could most definitely get you killed.
Pure exhaustion made his breath feel heavy as it left his lips. “He knows,” Merlin sighed, not even looking at Gaius as he confirmed his silent fear.
The cruel tone lacing Arthur’s voice only made him sink deeper. “Of course Gaius knew. After all, you’d need someone to strategize just how you could betray me best.” Merlin tried his best not to let Arthur’s hatred twist the knife buried in his heart any further.

Summary
Dying was a lot easier than he thought it would be. Not that Newt thought it would necessarily be difficult, but when he felt the edges of darkness seep into his mind it seemed like the simplest thing in the world. With how hard he had to try to keep himself together since he first saw the shocking blue seep into his veins, dying was almost a release. There was no battle for him to fight anymore. The redness in his vision was no longer clouding his eyes. The stabbing fear was no longer cutting deep into his heart. Instead all he could feel was the sweet coldness of relief.
It was all he could take to look at Thomas for the fraction of a second he got. It wasn’t painful to die. But it was painful to see what his death would mean to the boy that was still clutching his arms with agony and desperation. Newt could just barely see tears fall from glassy eyes before he let the darkness fully take him.
So, yes. The dying part was easy. The waking up part on the other hand, hurt more than he could ever imagine.
...
Just the typical death fix for these in love boys. This also sounds a lot more angsty than it actually is. I promise it's mostly just sweet and fluffy.

Summary
It took much less effort than you would think to get used to losing your memory. He forgot he was even broken most of the time. But every once in a while he would see an old friend with different colored hair, or a family friend that had become an adult in a matter of days. The worst was when he would see his reflection through the mirror. It was definitely him staring back, but it wasn’t who he remembered. He looked cleaner, stronger. Older. It was like looking at somebody else's body moving in time with his. Granted, he honestly liked who he had become. But he could only see the wisdom behind his new eyes. The life and lessons it took to reach that had been lost to him.
