Summary
“Don’t shut me out.”
…
What?
The world stops spinning, there is nothing past the walls of Mike’s room; Will does not know what this is about. He does not know why Mike sounds as helpless as he is, Will does not know why there is a stomach-dropping silence lingering between them. Will does not know. The world is ending. The world, their world is ending, and Will does not know how to fix it.
He is facing Mike on the mattress before he really even realizes it, and words sit idly on the tip of his tongue, burning in place.
“I don’t understand."
And then Mike’s eyes– those alluring, resentful eyes – draw back to his in hesitance, glassy with tears and wide with a type of fear and frustration and surprise that Will had never seen before, not ever in the almost ten years he’d known the boy. “You’re shutting me out again,” he says in a whisper, and Will can hear the vulnerability of Mike Wheeler’s voice, the younger part of himself somehow making itself evident.
Will wants to scream.
or: will byers and mike wheeler don’t understand each other again(or at least, will doesn’t), and the world is ending.

Summary
On November 6th, 1986, Will Byers fell asleep alone.
On January 7th, 1984, Will Byers woke up to see three younger versions of his best friends asking him if he felt okay.
Spoiler Alert: He didn't.
OR
Why did Will wake up almost three years in the past? Why January, in particular? Was Vecna back, and this a curse, or did he really travel back in time? A parallel universe, maybe?
But he didn't have time to dwell. Trying to act as normal as he could, watch as Will tries to find his way back home without letting the others help, and without letting on that he wasn't the Will they know. He could figure this out himself.
… It's only a matter of time before he breaks.

Summary
He hadn't asked for a picture. That felt weird, for some reason, but now it was clearly a mistake. He should have asked, so he could have a heads up. That way he could have readjusted the image of Will in his head so he didn't feel like passing out at the sight of him.
Will had gotten hot.
Like, objectively speaking. Not in a romantic way. Mike wasn't gay. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Will was gay, he had told everyone about a year ago, but Mike wasn't. Still, he could recognize a person's general attractiveness level. He could still recognize that El was pretty even though they were no longer dating and he didn't have any feelings for her.
But Will was off the charts. And Mike was having a hard time processing this. Like what do you even say to your now hot best friend you haven't seen in 638 agonizing days, without sounding gay, but his newfound level of attraction is the only thing currently in your head?
...
The Hopper-Byers visit for Christmas, and the Party is determined to give El all the fun snowy winter experiences she never had. But Mike is having a *slight* crisis when he realizes how much his best friend has changed, and how much he can't stop thinking about it.
