And I— I dunno if it’s gonna be okay. But, fine,” he did his best to lift his head and set those disarming emotions to the side. “Fuck it. Fuck it all,” he looked at Izuku. “You want it? Here it is. Here goes.”

Katsuki never told Izuku he organised the suit. For one year after it was gifted, Izuku continued to do hero work and Katsuki watched him smile and laugh, and pretended his heart was full just seeing Izuku live his dream. But Katsuki had dreams too, once. Dreams that he felt were slipping through his fingers, not quite sustaining his heart in the way it used to.
Someone screws up randomly one afternoon, saying Katsuki planned it all, and Izuku’s expression drops. He leaves, with only one thing in his mind.
He wants the truth. All of it.

Izuku stands in the hallway, his gaze unseeing. He’s soaked from head to toe, even though a closed umbrella is clutched in his hand, and there’s a look on his face that will haunt Katsuki well beyond that night. A look that says he’s lost something that can never be replaced.
“Izuku?” Katsuki asks in a tone far gentler than most will ever hear from him, afraid that if he speaks too loudly, Izuku might bolt.
Izuku’s eyes focus at the sound of Katsuki’s voice and his mouth opens. His jaw works like he can’t quite fathom what he’s about to say. “Kacchan,” he says, “It’s gone. T-the last of the embers…they’re–they’re gone.”
