Summary
It felt familiar to him. New York-familiar, but not exactly the same. He knew he would never understand why. And maybe that was for the best, because in all honesty, he had no idea where the hell he was or how he even got there. All he knew was the scent of the night, the pain that now radiated down his spine, and the feeling of a brisk, frozen air on his cheeks. His suit was wet against him, slick to his skin while his hands reached up to feel where the pain started in his head. His mask was nowhere to be seen.
“Shit,” he breathed out, voice tight and narrow as it filtered through his ears. It sounded wrong, it felt wrong. He felt wrong. And as he tried his hardest to come up with some flimsy reason as to why he was here, he came up short. At that moment, he didn’t have a single memory in his head. He couldn’t think of anything, and in general, he couldn’t think.

Peter doesn't know where he is or how he got there. All he knows is that some kid is reluctantly helping him and somehow annoying him at the same time, and he doesn't hate it.

Summary
Embers flow and caper over his shoulders while bits of ceiling tumble around him in hot, melted segments. Now isn’t the time for patience and planning, he thinks. He’s busy searching for limbs in piles of debris, busy listening for voices or bellows that call out in pleading desperation. He doesn’t stop to wonder why it’s so hard to see through the thickening smoke because all he cares about is the one person making this ordeal worth it.
The name leaves his lips before he can stop it.
“Peter!” he calls out, throat constricting as all the moisture leaves his tongue. Tony’s chest heaves in sporadic waves; each appendage has fallen numb without awareness. Not now, he thinks, pushing his way through burning wood and plaster, this can’t happen now.
Tony doesn’t have anything to lean on. He doesn’t have the chance to catch his breath. While his suit has the capability of filtering out foreign chemicals, or anything harmful for that matter, it doesn’t block the unbearable heat crawling through the crevices. He feels like he’s choking on his own carbon dioxide, and he’s suffocating at the expense of trying to save Peter.

Summary
Peter landed roughly on the top of a fire escape with a sigh. Crap, crap, bad idea. Totally bad idea. His muscles seized, and his expression winced at the feeling of the icy metal beneath his hands and feet. So, he climbed up to the roof to catch his breath, but the second he let himself relax, the violent shivers returned.
“C’mon,” he whispered to himself, breathing deeply in an attempt to ease his tension. “C’mon, Peter. D-do it for MJ.”
The cold had penetrated every inch of his suit, and snow coated his shoulders like a thick blanket. This was a mistake. A stupid, idiotic mistake that could have waited until the next day at school. Or, maybe the snow had been a sign. Maybe he should have kept his feelings to himself. Nevertheless, it was too late for that now. He was too far from home to turn back, but—shit, he couldn’t feel his feet. He couldn’t feel his hands or his nose either. He could hardly think about anything but the chatter of his teeth.
What the hell was he doing?

Peter is too caught up in his feelings to realize that spiders and two feet of snow don't mix well at all. It's fine. He'll learn his lesson.

Summary
If there was one good thing to come out of Tony's ultimate death at the end of the week, it was the ability to forget for a short period of time. He spent his time surrounded by strangers who idolized him and friends who sometimes gave less of a damn. But it was a kid who grounded him—who made him wish he had more time because he reminded him that there were good things to live for. One kid did all that.
Truly, Tony didn’t know how to make sense of it. A part of him told him to be unabashedly humble. Another part said to leave the kid and drive to Miami with the top down until his eyes fell out of their sockets.
It was just a kid. A kid.
A kid who had a shopping bag tied around his wrist with the Stark Expo logo on the side. A kid who was silent for a while until he finally said, “I have to use the bathroom.”

Peter is eight-years-old and loves everything about Iron Man. Tony is dying and helps a lost kid find his aunt and uncle.

Tony seems to panic for a moment, shifting his weight foot to foot, before spitting out in one mouthful, “I have a business trip in Florida right before your spring break and I talked to May and she says I can bring you to Disney for the week once it’s done ahhh.” He then breathes, grins plastically, and holds his hands out, like, I’m Tony Stark, hold your applause.
Peter runs the words through his head no less than three times to make sure he had understood them properly. “Disney—you and me—spring break?” he repeats.
Tony nods, hair flopping. “I mean, like, don’t feel obligated to say yes, but I thought it would be fun since May says you’ve never gone and she would’ve been working for your whole break anyway, y’know, at least this way we won’t be worrying about you sitting home alone for hours doing G-d only knows what—building accidental robot armies or something, or, worse, becoming a couch potato and forgetting every bit of knowledge I’ve ever carefully placed in that rat trap you call a brain—”
“Tony,” Peter says, waving his hands to shut Tony up. Something warm sits in the core of his chest, hovering. “Yeah,” he says. “Yeah, yeah, for sure, let’s—Disney. Let’s go. Wow.”
