Penny inhales and exhales before slumping against the couch in the space right beside her, the den now covered entirely with blankets and cushions like a nest for a bird. “Thanks for coming.” She slumps and glances sideways with an edge of a grin on her lips and a hint of a glow in her eyes. “I was anxious that nobody would show.”
The whole party thing was her thought back in the depths of the hospital, to gather everyone and waste the hours until midnight together. It was an old tradition to spend the turn of the year with the people you wanted to have stay in your life, after all.
A couple months after the crash that nearly ended their lives, the St. Cassian's Chamber Choir gathers to celebrate the new year together.
