George laughs again, going along with whatever charade Charlie has in mind. He might as well, hadn’t he? This night is a dream, and anything at all can happen in a dream, none of it matters when one wakes up in the morning. So when Charlie’s hands are on his thighs, pushing up his skirts, finding his bare skin underneath, George does not stop him.

Summary
In May of 1891, Sherlock Holmes fell to his death at the Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland. Every day since then I tried to tell myself not to think about it anymore, to let him go, but every day without him felt like a farce. My life had shattered so completely that I believed it could never be glued back together again. Sometimes I wished I'd actually had the wife I'd given myself in the stories I'd written for The Strand Magazine; at least then I'd have someone to lean upon, even if my heart still belonged to Holmes.

I don’t recall the whole conversation, but it quickly gained volume and fervor and soon we were verbally abusing one another across the hearthrug about my “total disregard for personal safety” and his “inability to aid me in all things.” What I do remember is his shouting, “You’re completely out of control, Holmes!” and my yelling back, “Well, then, control me, why don’t you?”
He went silent. It was suddenly so quiet in our sitting room that the noise of the fire crackling behind me was almost deafening. I knew I had strayed, but I didn’t know where.

"Usually it's the guy on the other end that wants to get hurt," Sol continues, steadily, as if he isn't cautiously studying every inch of John's face as he speaks. "An' the guy on top that wants to do the hurtin'. But that's not me, an' it was hard to find anyone that was down for that kinda thing, or that would… y'know, take it seriously enough. So I tried a few times, 'n' gave up." He shrugs, trying to exude an air of nonchalance.
John stares at him for a long moment, quivering ever so slightly, and Sol worries. He worries until John opens his mouth and says, his voice wavering, "I would hurt you, if you told me to."
