Karl fumbles with the lighter, his own lighter that he’s used plenty of times, and pulls in a hit. He lets it settle in his lungs, waits for the headrush to turn into tingles, then tilts his head forward to brush Dream’s lips with his own.
He breathes out slowly, hearing Dream breathe it in surround-sound. If he thought Dream’s legs were warm, the heat radiating off of his face is stifling. Karl tries not to think about how soft his chapped lips seem even from this little almost-touch, also tries not to think about how George and Sapnap are watching them from the floor.
“That was hot,” George says, sounding uncaring and dry. Whether it’s a joke or not is up in the air, but Karl’s head is spinning too much to think of a funny response. His eyes flutter open, he was unaware he had closed them, and he pulls back to look at Dream.
And Dream is… soft.
